2 Nephi 12:5 “Walk in the Light of the Lord”

Jesus is light, even the Light of the World. Satan is the dark of the world.

Light is truth and peace

and goodness and righteousness. Walk the paths that Jesus walked, and

you will be walking the paths

of righteousness, filled with light.

All good things are light and stem from Christ, for He is the author and finisher

of our faith and

good works. “If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or good report or praiseworthy,

we seek after

these things.” (Article of Faith 13).

(The Articles of Faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,

restored through Joseph Smith and others in the last days.

In Jesus there is no darkness.

  1. His atonement is light

  2. His words are light

  3. His life is light

  4. His doctrine is light

  5. His love is light

  6. His patience is light

The Schoolmaster

Alma 34:14  The Whole Meaning of the Law of Moses

And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice; and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal.”

The Law of Moses was a schoolmaster:

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith” (Galations 3:24).

The Law of Moses pointed souls toward Christ and brought souls to Christ.

This was the all inclusive purpose of this schoolmaster, to school the people in

Christ.

A schoolmaster is anything or anybody that teaches or directs.

Were it not for “the atonement of His blood” (Mosiah 3:15), all humankind

would remain lost and fallen and would soon perish. The shedded blood of Jesus saves

and atones. For “there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only in

and through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ” (Mosiah 5:9), on condition of our faith, and obedience.

Jesus Christ: Power of Resurrection

 Resurrection

The power of resurrection is in Jesus Christ. He received this power from His Father. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared unto many. Likewise, because of His resurrection, all will be resurrected; thus, death and the grave shall have no victory. Death is swollowed up in Christ. “For as in Adam, all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:20-21).

Resurrection is when a person’s spirit is reunited with his/her physical body, never to be separated again. The righteous, Celestial spirits, will come forth in the morning of the First Resurrection and will inherit eternal life, exaltation, in the highest heaven of the celestial world. This is where one experiences “a state of never-ending happiness” (Mosiah 2:41).  Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). He was resurrected to give us life, even life after death.

Following Jesus’ resurrection, He appeared to His apostles and others in the Upper Room. They thought He was a spirit, but He assured them that He wasn’t just a spirit. In Luke 24:36-39 we learn:

36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

Thus we see that Christ had a resurrected body of flesh and bones, and we likewise will have a body of flesh and bones when we are resurrected. Because of Christ’s resurrection, all will be resurrected, a precious gift from God.

Jesus is Manifested

1 Nephi 10:11

And after they had slain the Messiah, who should come, and after he had been slain he should rise from the dead, and should make himself manifest, by the Holy Ghost, unto the Gentiles.

How did and does Jesus manifest himself by the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost:
  1. Testifies of Christ
  2. Bears witness of Christ
  3. Declares that Jesus is the Christ
  4. Teaches people about Christ

Paul taught, "No man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost" (1 Corinthians 12:3). Thus we see that Jesus is manifested by the power of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost bears record of Jesus Christ and the Father

Jesus is also manifest by the things which are written about Him.

The Power of the Resurrection of Christ, the Holy One of Israel.

Jesus Christ, Death of (Topical Guide)

 Mosiah 15:7

Jesus was crucified and slain according to the will of the Father. Jesus swallowed up His own will to do the Father's will.  Jesus prayed that the bitter cup would pass from Him, nevertheless, not His will but the will of the Father be done. Jesus humbled himself unto death, even the death of the cross. Jesus chose to die at the moment that He did, after all His work was completed as commanded by His Father. He finished all that He was sent to do.

Mosiah 16:8

Christ's resurrection gave victory over the grave so that there would be no sting in one's dying. Christ's resurrection brings resurrection upon all who have ever lived in mortality.

Mosiah 18:2

Christ's power, sufferings, death, resurrection, and ascension paved the way and opened the door for all in the human family to be redeemed, resurrected, and to live forever in a resurrected, glorified body of flesh, bones, and spirit--no blood. Everyone who has ever had a physical body will be resurrected, spirit and body being reunited. "And what is it ye shall hope for? Ye shall have hope through the atonement of  Christ and the power of His resurrection to be raised unto Life Eternal, and this because of your faith in Him according to the promise" (Moroni 10:41).

Christ's resurrection gives us hope. Knowing that we will eventually be resurrected and live forever gives us more meaning for living now, giving us purpose and direction on how to live our lives now in mortality. It empowers us to look beyond death and joyfully anticipate a bright future eternity in the hereafter if we have faith in Christ, repent, are baptized into the true church, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and endure faithfully to the end of our mortal lives.

Alma 21:9

Redemption and resurrection will come to all because of Christ's sufferings, death, resurrection, and the atonement of His blood.

Alma 7:12

Jesus died for all the human family. He had the will, a willingness to suffer and die on the cruel cross in order for Him to be resurrected and for us to all live.  This was all part of Heavenly Father's plan of salvation and happiness.

His bowels are filled with mercy. Bowels mean the most profound part or areas of something. In the case of Jesus, His bowels mean his deepest compassion, feelings, love, emotions, mercy, understanding, and grace.

Alma 16:19

The sufferings of Jesus. Jesus suffer pain and agony in Gethsemane where He suffered the pain of all humankind. He suffered during His trials with Annas, Caiaphas, Pilate Herod and Pilate. He suffered while walking the Via Dolorosa. He suffered unimaginable pain while being crucified on the cross. His suffering brings joy to us.

Alma 22:14

14 "And since man had fallen he could not merit anything of himself."

Merit (verb) - to be worthy of, to deserve.

President Hinckley said, “ Without the atonement, there would be nothing,

absolutely nothing. There would be no purpose in life-none whatever

because there would not be immortality. It would be meaningless.

The whole earth would be frustrated.”

Mormon 9:13

To redeem is to set free.

Christ's resurrection redeems us from death. His resurrection makes it possible for us all to be resurrected. It brings us back to the Father; otherwise, we would all be wasted.

 How to Know All Things

2 Nephi 9:20

DC 93:27-28

27 And no man receiveth a fulness unless he keepeth His commandments.

28  He that keepeth His commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things.

  DC 91  The Apocrypha

SECTION 91

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, March 9, 1833. The Prophet was at this time engaged in the translation of the Old Testament. Having come to that portion of the ancient writings called the Apocrypha, he inquired of the Lord and received this instruction.

1–3, The Apocrypha is mostly translated correctly but contains many interpolations by the hands of men that are not true; 4–6, It benefits those enlightened by the Spirit.

Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you concerning the Apocrypha—There are many things contained therein that are true, and it is mostly translated correctly;

There are many things contained therein that are not true, which are interpolations by the hands of men.

Verily, I say unto you, that it is not needful that the Apocrypha should be translated.

Therefore, whoso readeth it, let him understand, for the Spirit manifesteth truth;

And whoso is enlightened by the Spirit shall obtain benefit therefrom;

And whoso receiveth not by the Spirit, cannot be benefited. Therefore it is not needful that it should be translated. Amen.

DC 123:17  Let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power.

Live with ENTHUSIASM for Christ.

Rev. 21:18-21  A glimpse of, a description of the Celestial Kingdom

18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.

19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;

20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

3 Nephi 23:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.

There is safety for the righteous with Christ. He will protect the righteous.
